Thanks Anu. The plan seems to be bit hectic. I was thinking to go till Pooh or so and spend some more time at Sangla-Chitkul. While coming back from Sangla to proceed for Kullu/Naggar, can we break at Narkand. From Narkand via Jalori Pass, how much time it takes to reach Naggar/Kullu? Will jalori pass be open till end Oct?

You will find plenty of snow from Gulaba onwards till Rohtang Pass..

By October, chances of traveling from Spiti to Manali will be very less as it normally snows around this period on Kunzum and Rohtang Pass. You will have to take a route via Jallori Pass to reach Manali.

Plan your journey as following:
Day 1 - Delhi to SHimla
Day 2 - Shimla to Sarahan
Day 3 - Sarahan to Sangla
Day 4 - Sangla to Kalpa
Day 5 - Rest at Kalpa, local sightseeing
Day 6 - Kalpa to Tabo
Day 7 - Tabo to Kaza
Day 8 - Kaza local
Day 9 - Kaza - Chandertal - Kaza
Day 10- Kaza to Rampur 8-10 hours drive
Day 11 - Rampur to Manali via Jallori
Day 12 - Visit Rohtang Pass
Day 13 - Manali to Chandigarh. Visit Kullu on way
Day 14 - Chandigarh to Delhi

If you have more time, try and add a day more at Manali

Great. We (2 families of 6 adults) would be visting Himachal next October end (around 20th Oct). We would like to cover Kalpa-Kinnaur-Spiti etc. and also Kulu-Manali_Rotang Pass. Will it be possible to complete within 12 days starting from Delhi & what could be the proabale itimnerary, keeping leisurely pace?

what ever written here is true we wen there 10 2008 october.he mule wallas would suck 250 rupees from u for just less than 2 km ride which can be easily done by walk. only problem is here is lot of mule crap but that is only for up to some 50 to 100 feet.This is intelligently done by the mule wallas to discourage tourists from walking.Tourists may think all the track up to kufri will be like that only.Frankly there is nothing there to see.Dont try to buy ant thing there u can get all the material they sell at fun world at half the price in Delhi.

I think Himachali drivers are not good drivers in the plains of Chandigarh, Punjab, Harayana, Delhi or rest of the India. I am sure that most of them will fail in the driving test conducted by the Chandigarh Traffic Police. They do not have lanes in Himachal so not expert in lane driving, which can lead to accidents.

All the drivers whose vehicle is register in Himachal Pradesh or own a Himachal state driving license should be banned in the rest of the India, in the circumstance, as decided by the Himachal Pradesh Government.

This is discrimination. I don't think that it is legal according to the constitution of India.

You will get the DX or VOLVO buses from Manali (Mall Road) To Delhi. This will take 11 hrs to reach Delhi from Manali.

Both are good.. See which timings suit you better. If traveling by Himalayan Queen then travel by chair car only. Else Shiwalik Express too is good and they serve breakfast midway, charges to which are included in the fare
